Professional Bio

Elaine Farndale (Ph.D.) is Professor of Human Resource Management and Director of the School of Labor and Employment Relations at Penn State University (USA), where she is also Founder and Director of the Center for International Human Resource Studies. Elaine’s research and teaching encompass the broad field of international strategic human resource management (including cross-national comparative HRM and HRM in multinational corporations). She is the US partner to CRANET, a long-term research collaboration of over 40 universities globally that carries out a regular international comparative survey of organizational HRM policies and practices. Dr. Farndale has published widely from her international collaborations in leading scholarly journals as well as publishing multiple books. She has also served as Editor or Associate Editor for several scholarly HRM journals. She completed her Ph.D. at Cranfield School of Management (UK) and worked previously as an HR specialist for several years.
