We recently sat down with Keyana Taylor, a recent graduate of the School's online MPS in HRER, to hear her story and why she chose Penn State.

It was always a lifelong dream of mine to attend Penn State. However, life changes, such as starting a family and working, made it difficult to make my dream a reality after high school, so I received my bachelor's degree at a local college instead.

Five years later and the single mother of two children, I decided I wanted to chase my dream one last time and attend Penn State for my master’s degree. It was very important to me to show my children dreams can become a reality as long as you put in the work and effort behind the desire.

Though I did not have an undergraduate degree in HR, I always found myself working jobs that required me to work with other employees to train, mentor, or help them grow in their positions.

When I noticed that Penn State had an exclusive online master’s program in human resources, it felt like a dream come true and that the program was made especially for me.

Penn State not only provided me with the best school experience I have ever had, they also connected me with highly educated professors who genuinely loved the classes they taught and were readily available to assist with school assignments, general HR related work questions, and even encouraged students to use them as job references.

I realized that for these professors, it wasn’t just about the grade, it was about truly making a difference in each of their student's lives and creating skilled business professionals who could impact their work environments.

The human resource program gave me the confidence I needed to believe I could accomplish anything I put my mind to. For almost every assignment I had, I was provided effective feedback on all my coursework that I could then turn around and use on the job.

I received a promotion while I was in the process of getting my degree and now that I have finished, I have been offered numerous positions within my company on both regional and corporate levels.

The education, experience, and support provided by Penn State are truly unmatchable!
