University Community

The Labor School connects the Pennsylvania labor movement and the University community through lectures, events, and student career development opportunities.

Annual Philip Murray Memorial Labor Lecture

The Philip Murray Memorial Labor Lecture is a lecture sponsored by the Penn State School of Labor and Employment Relations that brings a distinguished representative of the labor movement to Penn State each year. The lecture promotes the exchange of ideas between the University community–students, faculty, and staff—and leadership in the labor movement. The goal of this interchange is to contribute to a better understanding of the important role the labor movement has played, and continues to play, in a democratic society.

Author and Research Showcase

The Research Showcase highlights the work of faculty in the School of Labor and Employment Relations. Faculty share applied research findings with the labor community, connecting practitioners with scholars in our field. This event currently is held virtually every fall.

The Author Showcase is an online event where authors can share their published work and engage in dialogue with practitioners from labor unions in Pennsylvania and the broader Penn State community. We host this event each spring.
