The Center for Global Workers’ Rights (CGWR) was established in 2012 as a research center within the School of Labor and Employment Relations.
It has a particular focus on vulnerable workers in precarious sectors of the global economy, such as sweatshop workers in global supply chains in the apparel and electronics sectors. It publishes research reports, funds student projects on workers’ rights, organizes scholar-practitioner exchanges, and co-hosts the Global Labour Journal. It is home to the Labour Rights Indicators, which is considered to be the most comprehensive global database on workers’ rights. The Center works in close association with the Master of Professional Studies program in Labor and Global Workers’ Rights as part of the Global Labour University.
