Center for Global Workers’ Rights
The Center for Global Workers’ Rights (CGWR) was established in 2012 as a research center within the School of Labor and Employment Relations.
CGWR conducts and shares research that advances workers’ rights and improves quality of work in the U.S. and globally. We facilitate the exchange of knowledge between academia and labor practitioners by bringing together researchers, policymakers, workers and their organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders. By fostering dialogue, CGWR aims to strengthen labor rights, raise work standards, and build better workplaces worldwide.
The CGWR has maintained a strong partnership with the Global Labour University (GLU) since 2013, when preparations began for the launch of the master’s program in Labor and Global Workers’ Rights (LGWR). Following the conclusion of the LGWR program, the CGWR became an associate member of the GLU in September 2024, further strengthening this longstanding partnership
