Medora McCarthy is a second year student in an integrated undergraduate and graduate program, pursing a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Employment Relations. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Labor and Employment Relations this past summer.

Her internship experience consists of working as in intern in Blue Bottle Coffee’s People Operations department. She received valuable exposure to all functions of the department including recruiting, training (even going through barista training herself), benefits analysis, compensation, and management. Additionally, she was developing a more user-friendly training calendar for on-boarding new hires, compiling research on current employment laws, and comparative research into company benefits to administer a survey to gauge employee interests.

As a student-athlete, in her fifth and final year of eligibility, Medora is heavily involved in the Athletic Director’s Leadership Institute, which focuses on developing the leadership skills of select athletes. In her fencing career she has been Women’s Epee Fencing Team Captain. Additionally, she works with the Athletic Department as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board, focusing on developing mental health programs for athletes. Last year, she also served as Vice President of the school’s Active Minds chapter, working to erase the stigma surrounding the conversation about mental health.
