Jordan Lawson is a first-year graduate student from Pittsburgh pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in the Human Resources and Employment Relations program at Penn State University. In the spring of 2018, Jordan also earned his Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Sociology and Political Science through the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State. He also participated in the Paterno Fellows Program, completing a research-assistantship and honors thesis investigating the nature and prevalence of cyber-aggression targeting minorities on the social media platform, Twitter, as well as serving as a teaching assistant for the largest race and ethnic relations course in the country.

As a graduate student, Jordan will be serving as Graduate Assistant conducting research for a professor in the School of Labor and Employment Relations. Through this work and his focus on sociological and institutional racial issues during his time as an undergraduate, Jordan is looking forward to developing the proficiencies and the professional acumen necessary to advance forward in the fields of diversity and inclusion, talent acquisition and development, and human resources management more broadly.

Outside of the classroom, Jordan also enjoys keeping up to date with current events, watching television, spending time with friends and family, and reading non-fiction. Additionally, he has devoted a fair amount of his personal time since entering post-secondary education to Penn State’s Dance Marathon, raising money and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer.
