Amir Sheikh is a first-year graduate student at Penn State who is pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Resources and Employment Relations (2021). He received his undergraduate degree in Business and Hospitality from the University of Nilai in Malaysia. With the combination of these fields, he aims to become a well-rounded candidate for future managerial roles that can efficiently execute customer and employee-centric strategies.  

During his management training at The St. Regis Langkawi in Malaysia, Amir met his mentor who piqued his interest in the field of training and development. He brought his experiences to the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel and collaborated with the HR Manager to create an employee leadership training program. As a graduate student, Amir is particularly interested in the subjects of motivation psychology, staff training, development, and overall employee satisfaction. 

Outside the classroom, Amir is an avid photographer and spends time practicing the violin. He enjoys traveling around the world and learning about different cultures and backgrounds. He believes that his travel experiences broaden his perspective and diversify his contributions in the field of HR.
