My name is Andrew, and I am currently completing my Masters degree in Human Resources and Employment Relations. I am a full-time Training, Development, and Compliance Specialist with Penn State Hospitality Services. This role has exposed me to compliance and regulatory tracking, and employee training and development. My main accomplishments have been to create, from scratch, a New Employee Orientation program, overhaul our Guest*Pride customer service training program, review and update the Employee Handbook, setup and coordinate a Train the Trainer course, and maintain accurate tracking of about 45 compliance and training requirements for an average of 850 hoteliers. Also during my tenure with Hospitality Services, I became involved in website development, management, and marketing; working closely with the Marketing team to make content updates and review quarterly updates from our SEO provider.

I believe Human Resources is about connecting with people and helping them solve their challenges, so they can accomplish their goals. Human Resources is partially about processes and ensuring accurate paperwork, but the real meaning is in forming connections and understanding the people in the operation. Knowing them for who they are means the HR office can leverage that knowledge to solve challenges, reduce red-tape, and foster a positive and encouraging environment. I am committed to this perspective in my current job and for future opportunities.

I achieved my Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy, Politics, and Law from Binghamton University, Binghamton, New York. I hold a Masters in Economic Science in International Politics, Strategic Studies, from Aberstwyth University, Aberstwyth University, Wales, United Kingdom.

Outside of classes and work, I am a dog-wing volunteer and head Shift Leader at Centre County PAWs animal rescue, am learning Swedish, Russian, Japanese, and Welsh, and enjoy longbow archery and tabletop board gaming.
