Center for Workplace Performance

Professional Development for HR and Labor Relations professionals.

We provide professionals the opportunity to keep up-to-date with innovative organizational practices that boost workplace productivity and employee engagement in an interactive environment. Our workshops and webinars are designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and skills required by HR professionals to enable them to play a more strategic role in decision making and add value to every department in an organization.

People are both the greatest competitive advantage and greatest limiting factor for any organization.

Retaining talented employees is invariably a top priority. To do so, employees must be provided with opportunities to develop. Coaching delivered effectively unlocks growth opportunities and establishes foundations for trusting relationships, both of which help hold onto good people.

The Center for Workplace Performance at Penn State has created this interactive, online coaching program for leaders in a position to coach, people providing coaching services, and for anyone who wants to more fully understand the coaching process and develop effective coaching techniques.

We call it Drive-Thru Coaching and you’ll find that it is personally driven, positively framed, and paced appropriately.

Online Training

The Management Outreach Program provides individuals and organizations with opportunities to participate in online training programs and workshops. The programs occur in one of two formats:

  • Synchronous programs that teach content using a face-to-face digital platform such as Zoom.
  • Asynchronous instructor-led programs using Canvas as its digital platform.

Both alternatives allow for extensive participant-instructor and participant-participant interactions; however, the asynchronous programs do not require participants to congregate together at specified days or times. They will complete activities at their own pace as long as their contributions occur within the timeframes specified in the class.

Also, since the asynchronous program is instructor-led, participants will more likely absorb relevant learning as they will receive individualized feedback based on their contributions.

In addition, the Academy will provide train-the-trainer opportunities for organizations that would like to develop internal capacity to teach this material. See the full list of workshops here.
