Captain Blank is currently the Marine Officer Instructor and Assistant Professor of Naval Science for NROTC Unit, The Pennsylvania State University.

Captain Blank was born on 4 March 1981 in White Castle, Louisiana.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May of 1999 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA.  Upon completion of recruit training he was assigned to the School of Infantry in Camp Pendleton, CA where he graduated with the MOS of 0331 Machine Gunner.

Following the School of Infantry he was given orders to Marine Barracks Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; where he was assigned to Rifle Security Company Leeward.  While stationed in Cuba Captain Blank served as a sentry and Corporal of the Guard before receiving orders to Camp Lejeune, NC.

In November of 2000, Captain Blank was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines where he deployed twice as a security platoon squad leader and Headquarters Platoon Sergeant.  The first deployment was with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom aboard the USS Wasp.  The second was in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I, where he led a Combined Armed Attack Team (CAAT) in security operations.  Upon returning from OIF I in 2003, he received orders to Drill Instructor School at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.

While aboard the recruit depot Captain Blank held the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Academic Instructor, and Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Academic Instruction Platoon.  In 2007 Captain Blank was selected to attend the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training program in Newport, RI where he was then enrolled in the Meritorious Enlisted Commissioning Education Program.

Captain Blank then attended Louisiana State University where he was assigned to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.  As a student he completed Officer Candidate School and received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with honors. Captain Blank achieved the rank of Gunnery Sergeant prior to commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Unites States Marine Corps.

Following The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course, Captain Blank was assigned to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines in July 2012.  During this tour, he served as Rifle Platoon Commander and deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Harpers Ferry in support of the Global War on Terrorism.  Upon completion of the deployment he was then assigned as the Company Executive Officer (XO) of Company B.  As the Company XO he deployed to Australia as part of the Marine Rotational Force-Darwin in which he planned and executed numerous multinational training exercises.  After the deployment Captain Blank served as the Assistant Operations Officer 1st Battalion 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division Camp Pendleton, CA where he planned and supervised EXERCISE IRON FIST 2016. In May of 2016 Captain Blank reported to NROTC Unit, The Pennsylvania State University for duty as the Marine Officer Instructor.

Captain Blank’s personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal (5th award) and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (4th award).

Captain Blank is married to the former Kathleen Leigh Labbe of Saint Martinville, LA.  They live in Port Matilda, Pennsylvania and have three children: Koen 12, Gemma 4 and Isla 2 months.
