February 14, 2018

A study by School Director Paul Clark was cited in an amicus brief that was recently filed with the Supreme Court. The brief, filed by 21 attorneys general from twenty states and the District of Columbia, pertains to the Janus v. AFSCME case.

In Janus, the Supreme Court will rule on the legality of union security clauses for government workers. It is one of the most important labor law cases to be decided by the Court in years and has significant ramifications for public sector unions. The Court is expected to hear oral arguments in the case later this month.

The study authored by Professor Clark sheds light on the constructive role that grievance procedures play in unionized workplace.
