Katiuscia "Kat" Galhera
Katiuscia Moreno Galhera is a visiting scholar at the Center for Global Workers’ Rights at Penn State and a PhD student in Political Science at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), which hosts the Global Labour University. She holds a Master's Degree in International Relations from Universidade Estadual Paulista and a MBA in Account from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, Brazil. Her PhD research examines union networks in two sectors (garment and steel) as well as the international, racial and gender division of labour in the contemporary globalized economy. Her publications include “Monitoring Precarious and Forced Labour in Brazil: Sweatshops in São Paulo from a Gender Perspective” (coauthored with Veiga, Kluwer Law International, 2014) and “WalMart in Brazil: From Global Diffusion to National Institutional Embeddedness” (book chapter in press, coauthored with Veiga and Martin). Before coming to the U.S., Galhera was an activist in gender, workers and inmigrants’ rights in Brazil.
