Job Summary:

The Human Resource Specialist serves as a collaborative partner in aligning talent acquisition initiatives with institutional and departmental goals and objects by serving as a subject matter expert in providing innovative solutions to assist the University in attracting and selecting top talent. This role works closely with internal HR staff, hiring managers, schools, and department representatives to assist with identifying, attracting, and recruiting qualified candidates for vacant positions within Jacksonville State University. This position is specifically responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of all full-time staff, and supporting recruitment efforts for faculty positions.

Essential Functions:

• Works closely with hiring managers and search committees to administer and guide full recruitment processes and to ensure consistent talent acquisition processes and practices (advertising, applicant tracking, candidate-sourcing and screening, interviewing and pre-employment processes).
• Assists with developing and maintaining recruiting plans, employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as developing new, creative recruiting ideas.
• Provides assistance to hiring managers and/or search committees in analyzing candidate interview responses and making appropriate selection recommendations.
• Assists with managing the applicant tracking database ensuring the highest level of data integrity.
• Assists with evaluating job applicants, identifying qualified candidates, and advising managers on the candidate selection processes.
• Participates in all forms of candidate interviews, assisting with scheduling and coordinating interviews as needed.
• Ensures candidates selected for interview possess the right combination of experience, education, and skills to meet the minimum qualifications for a particular position.
• Manages the pre-employment processes for assigned recruitments and for preparing and disseminating appropriate offer letter to candidates.
• Represents JSU at public events, such as job fairs and community job outreach programs.
• Responsible for the continuous update of job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• Associate Degree
• minimum of two (2) years’ professional work experience, and
• prior work experience in an HR department
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Personnel, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology or closely related field, and
• professional work experience
